书名:Principios De Un Orden Social Liberal《社会自由主义原则》
简介:This book is a collection of Hayek's political philosophy papers. In this article, there are two recurring themes, the ideological history of classical liberalism and the idea of government form, which must follow the principles of this branch of liberalism. Hayek believes that in the process of transition to modernity, there are some liberal thoughts, which have something in common against autocracy and totalitarianism, but the Whig thought developed in Britain is the most representative of the ideal of protecting individual freedom. This tradition can be traced back to ancient Greece, Stoicism, Roman law, medieval philosophy and natural law, modern constitutionalism and recent parliamentarism. He also warned that some of these ideas were so polluted by "democracy" that in contemporary thought, people confused most governments with limited governments. Hayek illustrates how authoritarian governments with limited power and democratic governments with unlimited power exist and how it is better to choose the former than the latter (because the latter is moving towards totalitarianism), although Hayek still prefers limited democratic governments.
