中文简介：《一千零一夜》（又称《天方夜谭》，“天方”是麦加旧译名），它是一部最早诞生于古波斯文明时代的故事和之后的阿拉伯时代的民间故事集。源于东方口头文学传统、于9世纪左右以阿拉伯文成书。《一千零一夜》成书后一直在阿拉伯地区流传，但只是普通的民间文学，不太受到重视，到18世纪初传到西方。1704年，法国人安托万·加朗首先将《一千零一夜》部分故事译成法文，不久风靡欧洲，各种西文相继出现。在20世纪初经西方传到中国。整本故事以包孕体出现，讲述了山鲁亚尔和他的妻子山鲁佐德之间诉说的故事，而连环包孕手法在故事集中常常被使用。有的故事是单独的，有的则构架在另一个故事之上。就整本故事来说，有的包含几百个夜晚的故事，有的则超过了1,001这个数目。
